CRISIS LOOMS AS OGUN STATE SET TO APPOINT UNQUALIFIED RECTOR
FOR POLYTECHNIC OF HEALTH AND ALLIED SERVICES ILESE

The Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Services In Ilese-Ijebu, Ogun State is facing possible crisis concerning the appointment of a substantive Rector for the Health Institution.
An advertisement was placed for the position.
One of the requirements for the position reads that the
candidate must “be a distinguished academic with a doctorate degree (PHD) from a
recognized institution in any of the following disciplines offered in the
Polytechnic Sector such as Health Related Sciences, Technology Applied
Sciences, and Environment Management.”
At least thirteen
people applied for the job.
A screening exercise conducted eliminated Four candidates.
An alumnus of the institution Dr. Akinyele Cyril Babatope
was among the remaining nine.
Surprisingly, one Mr. Akinbo was fraudulently brought in for
interview. At the time of close of application Akinbo was not qualified on both
grounds stated above. He did not have a PHD at the time and also was not in any
of the disciplines offered in the polytechnic.
Mr. Akinbo was in the Department of Mathematics with
Bachelors in Statistics.
He should never have attended the interview at all.
The Governing Council chairman of the Polytechnic wrote to
the Governor on the ineligibility of Mr. Akinbo.
An aide to Governor Abiodun, Prof Arigbabu was fully aware
of the letter written by the Governing Council of the Polytechnic informing
them of his candidate's ineligibility.
Registrar of the institution Mrs. Oyesobi, has however written
to the Governing Council to issue a letter of appointment to Mr. Akinbo.
The Alumni of the Institution in a recent statement frowns such
an act detrimental to the progress and development of the Health Institution.
Governor Dapo Abiodun as a peace loving and progressive
leader, is therefore urged not allow the likes of Arigbabu and Oyesobi to drag
his name in the mud. Such fraud should not be allowed in his regime as Governor.
The Governor needs to forestall the illegal act to engender
peace and progress.
Governor Dapo Abiodun must not allow this kind of fraud to
go unpunished in his regime as Governor.
The Governor needs to act and bring all persons involve to
book in order not to allow the crisis to fester and consume the Great
Institution of repute.
